Welltory vs Bevel: what each app measures, what it works with, and what it costs
Welltory and Bevel compared from each company's own help pages: which phones and wearables they support, where the HRV comes from, how stress and recovery are read, what the AI assistants do, and what each costs in October 2026.

Short answer
Welltory and Bevel both turn wearable data into daily scores, but they start from different places. Bevel is an iPhone app built around overnight data from a wearable, with free nutrition and strength-training tools and an AI coach in its paid tier. Welltory runs on iPhone and Android and builds its scores on heart rate variability measurements, which you can take with an Apple Watch, a Samsung Watch, a chest strap or your phone camera.
Choose by your setup, not by the logo. If you use Android, Welltory has an Android app; we found no Android version of Bevel on Bevel's official pages. If you sleep with an Oura Ring or a Garmin watch and want recovery scores built from that data, Bevel connects to both directly. If you do not want to wear anything at night, Welltory can work from a two-minute camera measurement.
Before you blame yourself for a "bad" score in either app, check what that app is actually reading: the same night can look different in two apps because they do not measure it the same way.

Note: this page is published by Welltory, so we are one of the two apps being compared. Every statement about Bevel comes from Bevel's own website, Help Center and App Store listing, checked on October 21, 2026; every statement about Welltory comes from Welltory's Help Center and plans page, checked the same day. Apps change quickly — if something here is out of date, the official pages linked in References win. Neither app is a medical device.

What does Bevel measure, and what does Welltory measure?
Both apps say roughly the same thing in their own words: they read signals your body already produces and tell you how much load you are carrying. The scores have different names and different inputs.
Bevel's daily scores. According to Bevel's Help Center, the Recovery Score is a percentage from 1 to 100 that Bevel calculates once each morning, after your sleep data is in. Its inputs are sleep, heart rate variability (HRV), resting heart rate, temperature, respiratory rate and blood oxygen. Next to it sit a Sleep Score, a Strain Score for daily exertion, a Stress Score from 1 to 100, and the Energy Bank, which Bevel describes as one energy figure built from recovery, sleep, strain and stress that carries over from one day to the next rather than resetting each morning. Bevel's paid tier adds Biological Age, an estimate from markers such as sleep, activity and resting heart rate.
Welltory's daily scores. Welltory's Today screen shows three indicators: Health, Battery and Stress. On iPhone, Welltory's Help Center says the Today screen is currently available to Apple Watch and Oura users; on Android, a similar Wellness report with Health, Energy and Stress is being rolled out. Welltory's Help Center describes Health as the key metric, based on HRV, and says it looks at two things: today's HRV compared with your own baseline, the average of the past 60 days, and that 60-day average compared with people of your age and sex. Battery shows how your energy is spent and restored through the day; its morning level comes from your resting heart rate on waking and from how much and how well you slept, given the previous day's load. Each HRV measurement is analysed with a set of indexes: five core ones on the free version and 21 metrics on Premium. On iPhone, Sleep Analysis, an Activity Report and a Workout Report are reached from the same screen.
What each app adds around the scores. Bevel leans into training and food: food logging by barcode, photo or text with a database Bevel puts at more than 6 million foods, a Strength Builder with more than 700 exercises, cycle tracking, a journal and, in Pro, imported lab results and clinical records. Welltory leans into the nervous system and everyday life: a blood pressure log with analysis (you take the reading with a cuff and enter it), breathing practices, more than 50 questionnaires and tags for what happened during the day.
Neither list makes one app "more complete". They are built for different questions. Bevel is closer to a training and nutrition dashboard; Welltory is closer to a stress and energy log.
Which watches and phones work with Welltory and Bevel?
This is the question that decides most choices, so it is worth being exact.
Bevel. Bevel's Help Center lists these data sources: Apple Watch, Garmin watches and other Garmin devices, Oura Ring, Google Health, Strava and the Amazfit Helio Strap. Apple Watch and the Helio Strap come in through Apple Health; Garmin (through Garmin Connect), Oura and Google Health connect to Bevel directly, and Google Health can also carry Fitbit data. Strava is one-way: Bevel can send workouts to Strava but does not import Strava workouts. Bevel's App Store listing requires iOS 18 or later on iPhone and watchOS 10.6 or later on Apple Watch. A few features are tied to one device — for example, Bevel says its Smart Alarm currently requires an Apple Watch.
Welltory. Welltory's Help Center says only Apple Watch and Samsung Watch can be used both for HRV measurements and activity tracking in Welltory. Sports heart rate monitors also work for HRV if they record raw RR-intervals and send them over Bluetooth — the Help Center's table includes Polar H10, Garmin HRM-Pro and HRM-Dual, Wahoo TICKR and others. Most other trackers — Garmin watches, Fitbit, Oura, Samsung Galaxy Ring, Amazfit, Polar watches — are supported for activity tracking: their workouts, sleep and steps arrive through Apple Health, Health Connect or Samsung Health. And the phone camera can take an HRV measurement on its own.
Is there a Bevel app for Android? On October 21, 2026, Bevel's website offered a download for iOS only, its Help Center described iPhone, Apple Watch and App Store billing, and a search of Bevel's Help Center for "Android" returned no articles. We found no Android version of Bevel on Bevel's official pages. Welltory has an Android app on Google Play and reads data from Health Connect and Samsung Health. If you are on Android and were looking for a Bevel-like app, that is the practical difference between the two.
What about Oura and Garmin owners? Here the difference runs the other way. Bevel connects to Oura and Garmin directly. In Welltory, Oura and Garmin data is used for activity and sleep, not for HRV measurements: Welltory's Help Center explains that these companies' policies do not allow their HRV data to be transferred to other apps in the form Welltory needs. An Oura or Garmin owner who wants Welltory's stress and energy reading would take the HRV measurement with the phone camera or a chest strap.
How do HRV, stress and recovery differ between Welltory and Bevel?
If you have used both apps, you have probably seen numbers that do not match. That is expected, and both companies say so.
When the HRV is taken. Bevel's Help Center says its HRV for Recovery is averaged during the deepest parts of your sleep, and that Bevel uses the RMSSD formula by default, with an option to switch to SDNN under Settings → Customization → Calculations → HRV Method. Bevel also points out that Apple Health often reports SDNN, which is one reason Bevel's HRV can differ from the number in Apple Health. Welltory, by contrast, is built around a measurement you take — commonly in the morning, sitting still — plus the data from an Apple Watch or Samsung Watch, and its Help Center says the HRV metric behind Health is lnRMSSD, a log-transformed RMSSD, rather than the SDNN shown in Apple Health. A night-time average and a morning reading are two different moments of the same nervous system, so they will not give the same number.
How the baseline works. Bevel says its "normal / above / below" labels compare today with your personal 60-day baseline, and that the app needs two to six weeks to learn your patterns; its Stress Score and Energy Bank need about 30 days of data to adapt. Welltory's Health indicator also uses a 60-day window: it compares today's HRV with the average of your past 60 days. Either way, the first weeks are a calibration period, and early scores in either app are less informative than later ones.
What "stress" means. Bevel is explicit that its Stress Score is built from heart rate, HRV, movement and time of day, and that it reflects physical stress on the body rather than emotional or mental stress directly. Its Help Center adds that wearables cannot yet reliably tell physical effort from mental stress — which is why housework can read as stress. Welltory's Stress indicator is also a reading of the body's load, not of your thoughts: it shows how well you are balancing activity and rest.
Why the scores differ between apps. Bevel's own Help Center puts it plainly: each app uses its own algorithms, so it is normal for Bevel's scores to differ from other platforms. The same applies to Welltory. A 70 in one app and a yellow heart in another are not a contradiction; they are two different scales. Compare each app with itself over weeks, not with the other app on one morning.
If you want the broader picture of how recovery and readiness scores are built across apps, we compared them in readiness score apps compared and overnight recovery metrics compared.
Can you use Welltory or Bevel without a wearable?
Bevel without a wearable. Bevel's Help Center says wearing a compatible wearable overnight is the best way to get accurate scores, and that without overnight data such as resting heart rate and HRV, Bevel cannot generate a Sleep Score, a Recovery Score, Target Strain or accurate Cardio Load. Other features — Strength Builder, Biology, Journal and manual logging — keep working. You can also enter metrics like resting heart rate or HRV by hand in Apple Health, and Bevel will pull them in.
Welltory without a wearable. Welltory was designed to work with just a phone. The Help Center describes HRV measurement with the smartphone camera and flash, using photoplethysmography — the camera reads the small changes in colour in your fingertip as blood pulses through it. Welltory's Help Center notes that this is not an electrocardiogram, that it works at rest rather than during movement, that it is unreliable for people with arrhythmias, and that measurements may be less accurate if you are under 18 or pregnant.
So the honest version is: if you have no wearable, Welltory gives you a daily reading from the phone; Bevel gives you its training, food and journal tools, but not its sleep and recovery scores. If you want to see how a camera reading holds up, we covered it in how accurate is HRV from a phone camera and how to measure HRV without a wearable.
Which app has an AI coach, and what does it cost to use?
Both apps now have a chat that answers questions about your data. They are packaged differently.
Bevel Intelligence. Bevel describes Bevel Intelligence as an AI coach that answers questions grounded in your own metrics and helps with recovery, sleep, nutrition, training and biomarkers, including generating training plans. On Bevel's pricing page in its Help Center, Bevel Intelligence is part of Bevel Pro. Pro includes a weekly allowance of Bevel Intelligence usage that resets every seven days; your messages and daily check-ins count toward it. Extra credits are sold in the App Store, from $4.99 for 350 credits to $49.99 for 4,200 credits.
Welltory's AI Chat and AI Coach. Welltory's Help Center describes AI Chat, opened from the Chat tab in the app, which explains changes in your data in plain language and helps you prepare for conversations with a doctor. The Help Center is upfront about its current limits: AI Chat works with a limited part of your Welltory data, focuses on overall patterns rather than individual readings, does not keep chat history yet, and has daily and monthly message limits. It has been rolled out through beta versions, so whether you see it can depend on your app version. Separately, Welltory AI Coach runs inside ChatGPT; the Help Center says full access requires both Welltory Premium and ChatGPT Plus.
What neither assistant is. Both companies say their AI is not a medical device and not a substitute for a doctor. Bevel's App Store listing says Bevel is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, monitor or prevent medical conditions; Welltory's Help Center says the same of AI Chat. Use either as a way to understand your own numbers, not as a verdict.
How much do Welltory and Bevel cost in October 2026?
All prices below are US list prices as shown on October 21, 2026. Both apps price differently in other countries, and app stores convert to local currency.
Bevel. Bevel's Help Center says features included in its free tier "will always stay free": Recovery, Sleep, Strain, Stress, nutrition tracking, Strength Builder, Energy Bank, cycle tracking, fitness tracking, health monitors and journal, plus the Apple Watch app and widgets. Bevel Pro adds Bevel Intelligence, Health Records, Biological Age, and cardio routines and training plans. Pro costs $14.99 a month or $99.99 a year; Bevel also lists a 12-month commitment billed monthly at $10.99, which it says is not available in the US or Singapore. Bevel bills only through the Apple App Store, says trial availability and length may vary, and points you to the upgrade screen in the app for the current offer. Bevel Pro supports Apple Family Sharing.
Welltory. New Welltory accounts typically start with a three-day trial of the full app; after that, a free version stays available with limited features. Welltory's Help Center says Premium adds 21 metrics per measurement, unlimited measurements, sleep analysis, trends and your full history — on the free version, data older than 30 days is deleted. The plans page on welltory.com showed Premium at $99 a year or $599 as a one-time lifetime payment. In the App Store and Google Play, prices and plan options can differ from the website. Welltory does not support family sharing, but its Help Center says family members can ask for a discount on their own subscription.
The reader discount. Blog readers get 20% to 36% off Welltory Premium with the promo code `well_blog`, on the annual or lifetime plan. The exact figure appears on the payment screen before you enter any card details. Everything about Welltory's plans, the weekly option and how to apply the code is on our page about what Welltory costs.
One rule for both. Every subscription in both apps renews automatically until you cancel, except Welltory's one-time lifetime plan. Bevel subscriptions are cancelled in your iPhone's subscription settings; Welltory subscriptions are cancelled where you paid — App Store, Google Play or the Welltory web app.
Which one is right for you?
Here is how it tends to fall out by situation. None of this is a ranking — it is which tool fits which setup.
Bevel may suit you if:
You use an iPhone and an Apple Watch, Oura Ring or Garmin watch, and you sleep with it.
You want recovery, strain and sleep in one place alongside food logging and strength training.
You want to bring lab results and clinical records into the same app (Bevel Pro).
You want family members on one subscription through Apple Family Sharing.
Welltory may suit you if:
You use an Android phone.
You do not want to wear anything at night, or do not own a wearable — a camera measurement is enough to start.
You use a Samsung Watch or a chest strap such as a Polar H10 for HRV.
Your main question is stress and energy through the day, and you want to log blood pressure readings or tag what happened.
Either can work if you have an iPhone and an Apple Watch and mostly want to know whether to push or rest today. In that case the honest test is the trial: use each for a week and see which one you still open on day eight.
Can you use Welltory and Bevel together?
Yes. Both apps read from Apple Health on iPhone, so the same Apple Watch data can feed both. People who do this usually split the jobs: one app for training, food and overnight recovery, the other for a morning check-in and the day's stress and energy. Expect the numbers to disagree — as both companies say, each app has its own algorithms — and read each one against its own history.
If you are trying to bring data from several devices into one place, we wrote about that in which app combines Apple Health, Garmin and Oura.
Why does my score look worse in one app than the other?
This is the most common reason people search for a comparison, and it usually has nothing to do with you.
A low Recovery in one app and a green heart in the other on the same morning does not mean one of them is broken, and it does not mean you did something wrong. Bevel reads HRV during your deepest sleep and, by default, with RMSSD; Apple Health often reports SDNN; Welltory reads a measurement you take, typically in the morning. Both apps compare you with roughly the last 60 days of your own data, but they build that baseline from different readings, and each app weighs its inputs differently.
So before you decide you are "not recovering" or "too stressed", look at what changed in your own data. A third short night, a late dinner, a hard training block, a stressful week at work, the days before a period — these leave traces that both apps pick up in their own way. The useful question is not "which number is right" but "is my number moving, and what happened just before it moved". Change one thing, then watch the trend for one to two weeks in the same app.

How Welltory helps — and what it cannot do
Welltory is a general wellness app, not a medical device. It does not diagnose, and it does not replace a doctor, a blood pressure cuff or an ECG.
What it does is read your nervous system and show how your body is coping with the load you are carrying — and it does this with whatever you already have: an iPhone or an Android phone, an Apple Watch or a Samsung Watch, a chest strap, or just the phone camera.
A routine that works if you are coming from Bevel or using both:
Take one measurement at the same time each morning, sitting still, before coffee and before your phone. With an Apple Watch or Samsung Watch, Welltory also reads the watch's data; with a camera, the measurement takes about two minutes.
Answer "What happened?" when the app asks. Tap, type or say it: a late workout, alcohol, a bad night, a deadline, travel, the start of a cold. These tags are what turn a number into an explanation.
Read Health, Battery and Stress before you plan the day. Put the heavy things on the days your body allows them.
Look at the week, not the morning. In Premium, trends and sleep analysis show the lead-up to a bad day — what the three days before it looked like.
Keep a record you can take to an appointment. Welltory's web app exports your charts and parameters as a CSV file (Dashboard → choose a chart and range → Export), and Premium includes a blood pressure diary you can share with a doctor.
Where Welltory fits next to Bevel. If Bevel is your training and food dashboard, Welltory can be your stress and energy log: the morning reading, the tags and the patterns between them. If you are on Android, or do not sleep with a wearable, Welltory can do the job on its own.
What Welltory cannot do: tell you what a symptom means, detect a heart rhythm problem, measure blood pressure by itself, or prove that one habit caused one bad day. Patterns in the app are connections worth discussing with your doctor, not evidence of a cause. If something feels wrong, talk to a clinician.
