Community Guidelines

Last updated: April 23, 2026

These Community Guidelines are incorporated into our Community Terms of Service, and further explain what isn’t allowed in Welltory Health Communities so that we can help create a safe and supportive environment for everyone. All members, moderators, and participants must follow these Guidelines — they apply to all parts of the Community, including your content, posts, and interactions.

Violation may result in content removal, suspension, or permanent ban. Legal consequences of violations and Welltory’s enforcement rights are set out in the Community Terms of Service.

Capitalized terms not defined in this Community Guidelines have the meanings given in the Community Terms of Service, Community Privacy Addendum and Privacy Policy.

1. What This Community Is

The Community is a peer support and educational space for people with similar health profiles. It is not a medical service, clinical trial, telehealth service, or crisis intervention resource.

Nothing shared in the Community — by members, by the Group Health Educator, or by AI — replaces consultation with your own healthcare provider.

2. Content Rules

2.1 You Can Post

  • Your personal health experiences — use “I” statements and first-person perspective
  • General educational questions about health topics relevant to the community
  • Peer support, encouragement, and empathy for other members
  • Publicly available health information with the source cited
  • Your progress and challenges in first-person narrative format

2.2 You Cannot Post

  • Diagnosing, prescribing, or recommending specific treatments to other members (“You should take X” / “You probably have Y”)
  • Another member’s personal health information outside the community
  • Medical misinformation, unsubstantiated health claims, or content contradicting established medical consensus without credible sourcing
  • AI-generated or manipulated content presented as your own personal experience or as factual health information
  • Promotion of products, supplements, or services without Welltory’s written approval
  • Publicly referencing a product, supplement, or intervention you used — where you receive or expect community benefits (e.g., membership access, stipends, or co-authorship) — without clearly disclosing that material connection, as required under FTC Endorsement Guides (16 CFR Part 255). When Welltory grants approval to mention a product, you must include a clear disclosure such as: “[Disclosed: I participate in a Welltory Health Community.]”
  • Harassment, bullying, discrimination, or offensive content of any kind
  • Content that identifies, targets, or shares personal information about any other member
  • Requests for or provision of emergency medical advice — contact emergency services instead
  • Content that encourages, depicts, or glorifies self-harm or suicide
  • Spam, off-topic content, or repetitive posting
  • Content that violates any applicable law, including copyright, privacy, or consumer protection laws

3. Interacting with the Group Health Educator

The Group Health Educator answers health questions at the group level and shares evidence-based educational content. They do not provide individual medical advice, review your personal health situation, engage in private health messaging, prescribe medications, or serve as your treating physician.

3.1 How to Frame Questions

The Group Health Educator can only engage with group-level questions. Frame your questions accordingly:

✅  GOOD — group-level framing❌  AVOID — individual framing
“What does research say about HRV patterns in people recovering from post-viral illness?”“I have these specific symptoms — what do I have?”
“What lifestyle factors tend to improve post-exertional recovery according to current evidence?”“Should I take this specific medication?”
“What do clinical guidelines say about fatigue management in long-term illness?”“Can you look at my data and tell me if something is wrong?”

3.2 The Role of AI in the Community

Welltory uses AI-assisted moderation and facilitation.

The AI:

  • Monitors all channels in real-time for prohibited content, health misinformation, and crisis signals
  • Automatically appends required educational disclaimers to Group Health Educator messages containing clinical content
  • Displays automated crisis resources when crisis signals are detected
  • Summarizes anonymized group trends for educational use
  • Flags content for human moderator review

The AI does NOT provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. It does not represent itself as a licensed healthcare professional and does not replace or impersonate the Group Health Educator. All AI-generated content posted in Community channels is labelled as AI-assisted using a visible prefix “🤖 AI-assisted:” at the start of the message, in compliance with California’s AI Transparency Act (SB 942). If you are unsure whether content was generated by AI or by the Group Health Educator, check for the verified educator badge or contact [email protected].

4. Privacy and Confidentiality

  • What is shared in the community stays in the community. Do not screenshot, copy, or share other members’ personal posts outside the community without their explicit written permission.
  • Do not share personally identifying information about other members (name, location, employer, photo).
  • When contributing to a group case, you consent to your anonymized data being combined with other participants’ data. Individual data is de-identified and protected as described in the Community Privacy Addendum.
  • Do not attempt to re-identify anonymized group case data or identify individual contributors.

Discord Data Storage — Read Before Posting

Community messages and files are stored on Discord’s servers (Discord Inc.), NOT Welltory’s servers.

Do NOT post:

  • personal medical records
  • insurance numbers
  • Social Security Numbers
  • prescription details
  • photos of medical documents

If you accidentally share such information: use the in-channel Report function or contact [email protected] immediately.

Tips:

(a) Use a pseudonym as your Discord display name.

(b) Do not tag other members by their real names without explicit consent.

(c) Describe documents in text rather than uploading files with identifying information.

5. Moderation

5.1 How Moderation Works

This Community uses a two-tier system:

  • AI Moderation (First Line) — monitors all channels in real-time. May remove content, issue automated warnings, or escalate to human moderators.
  • Human Moderation (Second Line) — reviews escalated situations, assesses context, and takes enforcement action.

5.2 Enforcement Steps

Violations are addressed progressively based on severity and frequency:

StepAction
1Private warning — you receive a notification specifying which rule was violated. Repeated violations of the same type may escalate to a suspension.
2Content removal or restriction
3Temporary suspension (24 hours to 30 days) — your ability to post is disabled for the duration. You may still read the community. After the suspension ends, posting is restored automatically.
4Permanent ban — you are fully removed from the Community. Access to all channels is revoked immediately. This is the most severe action and is only reversed if the ban was applied in error (see Appeals below).

Severe violations (e.g., sharing another member’s private health data, misrepresenting as a licensed provider, Washington State enrollment while a WA resident) may result in immediate permanent ban without prior steps.

5.3 Appeals

Appeal any enforcement decision by contacting [email protected] within 14 days. In your appeal, include your account details, the specific action you are disputing, and why you believe it was applied incorrectly. You will receive an automated confirmation that your appeal has been received. Appeals are reviewed in the order received. Only the account holder may appeal their own enforcement action. Do not submit multiple appeals for the same decision — this will not speed up the process. Welltory’s decision on appeal is final.

6. Reporting Violations

If you see content that violates these Guidelines:

Do not engage with or respond to violating content — report it and let moderators handle it.

If you disagree with a post but it does not violate these Guidelines, please do not report it. The Report function is for genuine violations only — using it to express disapproval may itself result in a warning.

7. Crisis Protocol

If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, has already taken steps to cause harm, or may act on thoughts of harming themselves or someone else, call 911 now.

  • Emergency services: Call 911
  • 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: Call or text 988 (US)
  • Crisis Text Line: Text HOME to 741741

These resources are US-only. If you are temporarily outside the United States, please contact your local emergency services instead.

This Community is here for peer support only. We are not able to provide emergency or crisis care.

Please reach out to the services above — they are available 24/7 and confidential.

8. Changes to These Guidelines

Welltory may update these Guidelines at any time. Material changes will be communicated with at least 7 days’ notice via community announcement and email. Continued participation after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Guidelines. Changes to legal terms (fees, liability, dispute resolution) require 30 days’ notice and are made in the Community Terms, not here.

9. Contact

If you have any questions, concerns, or complaints about this Community Guidelines or suggestions about any aspect of participation in this Community, please contact us at [email protected].
